Israel and the Tabernacle- In His Presence

Five questions to think about:

1. How do we relate to Israel?

2. Why did God give Israel so many laws? What was their purpose?

3. What does it mean that God wanted Israel to be a kingdom of priests?

4. What has God chosen us to be?

5. What is the significance of the tabernacle to Israel and to us?

Scripture passages to read and meditate on:

Exodus 19:3-6  while Moses went up to God. The LORD called to him out of the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the people of Israel: ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.”

Leviticus 19:2  “Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them, You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy.

Leviticus 20:7  Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, for I am the LORD your God.

Leviticus 20:26  You shall be holy to me, for I the LORD am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine.

Deuteronomy 7:6  “For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Deuteronomy 14:2  For you are a people holy to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.
1 Peter 2:9  But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Exodus 25:8  And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst.

John 1:14  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
