Take Refuge

Life is hard sometimes.

There are seasons when it is difficult to see how things are going to work out. We pray. We try to obey. We try to trust. Yet the path ahead feels uncertain.

In Deuteronomy 32, Moses calls God the Rock. Perfect. Just. Faithful. In the same song, he speaks honestly about the failures of God’s people. They would wander. They would fall short.

That tension feels familiar. We are not perfect. We fail Him. And yet He remains faithful. He does not change with our inconsistency. Again and again, He calls us back. Again and again, He shows mercy.

Then in Deuteronomy 34, Moses sees the Promised Land but does not enter it. His ending was different than expected. Still, he finished faithful. His eyes were steady. His strength remained. He may not have stepped into the promise, but he never stopped trusting the Promiser.

Psalm 64 reminds us where to turn when life feels uncertain. We take refuge in God. Not in outcomes. Not in control. In Him.

When I cannot see how things will work out, I am reminded to lift my eyes to the eternal prize. Our hope is not in everything going according to our plan. It is in the faithfulness of God. Eternal life is the promise that anchors us when today feels unclear.

Finishing well does not mean finishing perfectly. It means finishing faithful. It means trusting that even when we cannot see the full fruit of our obedience, God is still writing a bigger story.

As we pray and fast, may we loosen our grip on outcomes and hold tightly to the Rock. Life is hard sometimes. But God is faithful all the time.
