John 4:43-54 talks about the nobleman who asked Jesus to heal his sick son and
Jesus responded by telling the man that his son would live. As the man was on his way back
to his home, his servants met him and told him that his son was better. After this the whole
family believed. This story highlights the importance of recognizing God’s presence in our
lives though faith, even in the most diicult of times. It reminds us that we can feel his
presence as long as we are trusting in His promises to take care of us. In verse 48, we are
reminded that our faith isn’t supposed to depend on what we can see but what we know
about our Savior.
This story makes me think about how often we ask God for something but don’t
believe He will actually come through until we see it with our own eyes. Sometimes we ask
God for something, and we get discouraged when we don’t see an immediate answer.
Unlike the Jews, we aren’t able to be present with Jesus physically, but we do have the Bible
that reminds us that God is always present in our lives. We have a book that helps us see
the miracles God has done in our lives. Some other verses that remind us of God’s
presence in our lives are Psalm 23:4. Matthew 28:20, Deuteronomy 31:6, and Isaiah 41:10. I
encourage you to actively look for how God is showing up every day in your life!
