God's Care and Guidance

Martin made many good points in his recent lesson about God’s care and guidance (which leads me to believe Rachel helped him prepare; )
From Psalms 9-10 and 15-16 the Lord delivered David and saved David. Why did the Lord deliver David so many times?
First, because David feared the Lord:
“Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing.”
Psalms 34:9 NIV
Second, David humbled himself before the Lord. David was a king who was personally chosen by God, yet David remained humble.
While taking notes during Martin’s lessons I commonly jot down my own thoughts or questions. Looking over my notes from this recent lesson I noted the following:
God desires the best for me and He will lead me. Then I asked myself two questions.
1. Do I let God lead?
2. Do I humble myself?
If I were to answer myself I would have to say sometimes to both questions. It’s not that I set out each day to not let God lead me or plan to go through the day being full of myself. The thing is, if I don’t plan to let God lead and if I don’t think about humbling myself then I probably won’t do either. I need to start each day with a plan to let God be God.
My final note was this; God has blessed me in spite of myself.
“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth.”
Psalms 34:15-16 NIV
My righteousness comes solely and totally from the Lord. Amen
