God's Promises Fulfilled

In Joshua 9-12, the Israelites were moving into the land God promised them.  They faced many battles and moments that tested their discernment and trust. What I believe this tells us is that God is faithful to His word. He did everything he said he would. God also fights for and with His people.

Throughout the verses, we see that Israel is not seeking the Lord when the Gibeonites deceive them. This is a warning for us. Even when decisions seem straightforward…we need God’s wisdom. He prevents us from being influenced, but God still shows mercy. Israel honored their agreement with the Gibeonites, and God included the Gibeonites in his plan. Our mistakes are never the end of God’s story for us.

These verses also show that God’s promises are often fulfilled through obedience. Faith isn’t an event; it’s a journey. God leads. God blesses. Our role is to seek Him, trust Him, and walk faithfully in the assignment He gives. When we fail, He redirects; when we fear, He strengthens. When we pray boldly, He moves powerfully. When he blesses us, it’s so His name can be known through us.

Lord, make Your face shine upon us. Teach us to seek Your guidance in every decision, to trust You in every battle, and to walk faithfully in every season. Use our lives to make Your ways known and Your salvation seen.
