In His Presence- Abraham Part 2

For our adult class on Sunday, January 14th.

Four questions to think about:

1. What does it mean when the word “LORD” is written in all capital letters?

2. In verse 1 of chapter 18, what form does God take when he appears to Abraham?

3. In verses 17-19 of Genesis 18, who is God talking to?

4. How is Abraham able to stand before the LORD in verse 22?

Scripture passages to read and meditate on:

Genesis 18:1-2  And the LORD appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day. He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing in front of him. When he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth

Genesis 18:17-19  The LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do, seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice, so that the LORD may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.”

Genesis 18:22  So the men turned from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the LORD.
