Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand! --Psalm 139:6
Verse 6 is kind of the end of David’s thought on God knowing us, truly knowing us. Verses 1-5 he has stated all the ways God knows him, God searched him, God perceives his thoughts, God is familiar with all his ways, God knows every word before he says it, God has hemmed him. Verse 6 states that God’s knowledge of him is too wonderful but I believe it is just God’s knowledge in general that is too wonderful. David is marveling at the fact that God knows all things.
If you ask me who knows me the best in the whole world, I would of course say my husband. I would like to think he knows everything about me, my likes, dislikes, goals, insecurities, embarrassing stories, he knows them all but if I really think about it, he doesn’t know everything… I met Jackson when I was 23, we didn’t know each other growing up so even though I think I’ve told him everything I know there are stories from childhood I have forgotten, things he doesn’t know but God knows.
God knows it all.
He knows the things even my husband doesn’t know; I literally can’t even think of what that could be but he knows them and like David it’s too lofty for me to attain. It’s amazing, isn’t it? To be known and loved so deeply that we can’t even comprehend it.
