Psalm 51 was written by David following the story where he commits adultery with Bathsheba and then has her husband, Uriah the Hittite, put on the front lines of battle, which gets him killed.
David, a man after God’s own heart, wasn’t perfect. Despite being a figure of greatness in the Bible, he also committed sins against God. And while I won’t encourage anyone to follow after David and sin in the ways he did, I will encourage you to come to God the way David does, to repent the way David does. Despite the guilt and shame he carried in his heart for what he had done, he goes to God. Broken and defeated, he doesn’t run from God, but falls at his feet, asking for forgiveness, renewal, and to be cleansed.
Only God can make us new.
Nothing you can do on Earth cannot be forgiven by Him if we repent and change our ways. By sending Jesus to live a sinless life and to be the perfect sacrifice, He conquered death. Too often do we feel isolated and alone as sinful people in this broken world, which is exactly what the devil wants. But we can’t be truly saved unless we fully accept Christ as our Savior, letting Him into our hearts, not holding anything back from Him. So I will urge you, that if something is weighing on your heart, come to God. Lay it all down at His feet. Let Him take that burden off of your shoulders, renew your spirit, and cleanse you. Walk anew in Christ.
