John 21: 19 “…and then He said, ‘Follow me!’”
Our focus this week is praise. In John 21:19 Jesus says to Peter, “Follow Me.” Just as Peter said yes to following Jesus, we say “yes” and we praise God for the privilege of following Him. As believers, we praise God for inviting us to know Him, believe in Him, love Him, and follow Him…and this is a daily choice…to obey His commands, to let the Spirit guide us, to be the people that further His Kingdom. Let us choose to praise God when it is both easy and challenging to follow Him and let us commit every day to choosing God and His authority over our lives. He needs us in this world, exactly where He has placed us.
John 21: 20 “Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved, following them.”
Let us also be encouraged by John as he describes himself as “the disciple whom Jesus loved” and let’s praise God for our identity as a follower of Jesus, whom He loves. May we see ourselves as unconditionally loved by God and may we praise God for our eternal identity, an identity that will never leave us! I pray, also, that we will be used by God to lead others to experience God’s love for them and to experience this God given identity.
If you are reading this blog and you are thinking, “Well, that’s not my identity. I have not become a follower of Jesus.” I pray that this will be the day and the time where you say I want this identity and I want to follow Jesus. God is good, He is faithful, and He loves you.
